Large-scale projects allow me to use all of my skills harmoniously in pursuit of a goal. I enjoy creating, testing and implementing procedures that improve outcomes and help my colleagues do their best work as efficiently as possible.

Fort Worth ISD

Gold Seal Programs of Choice registration

In 2021, the Fort Worth Independent School District's specialty program department had a problem: The lockdowns were over, but families were still often unwilling to come to school functions. This included student registration, a laborious process that historically involved submitting more than a dozen documents per student. For large schools, wait times of more than two hours were not uncommon.

So I devised a solution. Using a platform called Qualtrics XM, I built a registration system capable of handling the thousands of data points and scanned documents required for registration. My bosses were impressed, not only with the usability, scalability and reliability of the system but also with the fact that it didn't cost the district a dime. We implemented it immediately, and it fell upon me to create training materials and assist my colleagues as they navigated the new process.

For privacy reasons, I cannot provide screen shots of the actual system on this site. Below are images from the training materials, which do not have any student data. Training video samples are available upon request.

Exam training

Standardized exams are stressful for both examinees and staff. One of the biggest issues faced by exam coordinators is that training for these tests is at once essential and boring. To address the problem, I moved training online. Exam staff are provided the official manuals and a training video and then must score a 100 percent on a comprehension quiz on Canvas. This method allows staff members time to understand the content and prove that they're ready for exam day. On exam day, staff members receive a paper manual and a step-by-step reference page.
